tl;dr - there are technically three mixes again this year.
I have cleverly stashed them here to make sure no one will ever find them!

Slightly less tl;dr: I had way too many songs for one mix this year, so in an attempt to keep the main mix (as opposed to The Main Man) to a not totally crazy length, "The Amazing Story of Superman Red and Superman Blue" allowed me to rationalize making two superset mixes, mostly for myself.

What the hell am I talking about? I guess read on if you really care.

Two Supes are Better Than One

It is a little known fact (in the era of my deep and abiding love for the MCU and my namesake tree in particular) that my favorite superhero has always been Superman.

One of my very favorite Superman comics growing up (and, many agree, one of the best silver age Superman stories) was "The Amazing Story of Superman Red and Superman Blue". It was a classic silver age story - Superman uses all different sorts of kryptonite to split himself into two versions who are both, of course, still awesome. It's just more Superman! What could be better than that?

Comics are weird.

Anyway, what better excuse (not that I usually need one*) could I have for making variant mixes than to pay homage to this very classic Superman story, in a year where we finally get a classic-feeling Superman movie again.

So...there you go.

Oh, and there was a return of Superman Red and Superman Blue in the 90s which was also...very much of its era.

I mean seriously, could this look possibly be more 90's?

* Oh, and I make no promises that some of these songs won't appear on a future mix.
Because rules are made to be broken. Obviously.
